What is MOHS Micrographic Surgery?
Most skin cancers are caused by overexposure to sunlight. You should be aware that the effects of sunlight are cumulative. The more sunlight your skin has been exposed to, the higher your lifetime risk for developing skin cancer. So please remember to always use sunscreen!

Skin cancers are roughly divided into melanoma- and non-melanoma skin cancer. Melanomas are cancers of pigment (color) producing cells, and non-melanomas are cancers of non-pigment producing skin cells. These cancers are often treated with Mohs Micrographic Surgery. If you feel you have an unusual skin condition which may be cancer, contact our Irvine dermatology office immediately for an appointment and assessment.
Mohs Micrographic Surgery is the most advanced and effective treatment for skin cancer available today. Dr. Tran is more than an average Irvine dermatologist. If you are looking to have Mohs done with minimal scarring, Dr. Tran is the doctor to see!

Initially developed by Dr. Frederic E. Mohs, the procedure is state-of-the-art and has been continuously refined over the past 70 years. With the Mohs technique, physicians are able to see beyond the visible disease, to precisely identify and remove the entire tumor layer by layer while leaving the surrounding healthy tissue intact and unharmed.

The advantages of Mohs surgery include:

It is the most exact and precise method of tumor removal.
Mohs minimizes the re-growth and lessens the potential for disfigurement.
And, Mohs has the highest cure rate – 99 percent!
