The SmartXide laser is a CO2 Fractional laser, which works by targeting multiple treatment zones within the skin. The DOT stands for (Dermal Optical Thermolysis) and utilizes a 'dot' pattern to create thousands of microscopic perforations in the skin while leaving the areas around each 'dot' intact. This fractional pattern allows for the outer layer of skin to heal more quickly from the edge of these tiny 'dots'. The overall procedure is safer, faster and more efficient than fully ablative treatments, because it leaves most of the topmost layer of the skin untouched. It is versatile enough to treat sensitive areas other than the face, including eyelids, neck, and hands. DOT Therapy can reverse the appearance of aged or sun-damaged skin, smooth wrinkles and fine lines and minimize acne scars.
HOW DOES DOT THERAPY WORK?
The DOT Therapy laser precisely creates thousands of microscopic holes (DOT's) in your skin, targeting wrinkled skin, pigmented lesions, or scar tissue, which induce immediate skin tightening and stimulate new collagen growth. During the procedure, your doctor will apply a pattern of tiny scanned pulses of laser energy to your skin with a controlled laser.
